In an attempt to reconcile Eastern and Western religious thought on the question of death, Novak presents an original theory he calls the "theory of division." It embodies the idea that the psyche survives after death, and then divides; the conscious mind reincarnates while the subconscious mind judges itself. Novak supports his groundbreaking approach with references to psychology and mythology, excerpts of religious text, and accounts of near-death experiences. "What is the nature of death?" seems to be the ultimate question to which neither science nor religion can provide an answer. This enlightening and well-researched book offers new perspective on this oldest of questions. 1
