A Brief History of the Human Soul
The Division of Consciousness:
The Secret Afterlife of the Human Psyche
Reviewed by John Chambers
...For ten years [Novak] studied the world's literature on death. Unwilling, and perhaps unable, to accept reassuring answers, he asked the Great Questions all over again: Why is God seemingly absent from His pain-wracked creation? Why are the two great families of religion seemingly at loggerheads over the question of life after death, the East believing in reincarnation and the West in eternal salvation or damnation? Why is there death at all, and what is the nature of death's realm?
Novak's answers comprise a whole new theory of the human soul and its journey through the afterlife... Despite the strangeness of Novak's theory ... it contains much food for thought, and succeeds in providing at least the suggestion of an answer to a surprisingly large number of questions.
...we ought to put aside all quibbles and salute Novak for the enormous valor he has shown in taking on the Great Questions again and fighting through to answers which, however controversial, can reinvigorate man's eternal debate about the nature of his own soul.
